1280 UT Curves for Entrada papers

1280 UT Curves for Entrada papers

2003-10-11 by Paul Roark

I have made some curves (cross-platform) for the 1280 with Moab Entrada Fine
Art papers. Both the standard Entrada with optical brighteners and Fine Art
"Natural" with no OBs are covered.

There are currently 2 curves for each paper: Warm (W1) and neutral/selenium
(N1).

Because the Entrada with the optical brighteners prints so cold, the "N1"
curve for it makes a very good Medium Warm curve for the Entrada Natural.
Likewise, the ENN-N1, neutral on the Natural paper, will print cold on the
OB'd paper. So, there are 4 tones covered by these curves with the 2
papers.

(For all 1280 UT curves, I use the same settings: Adobe RGB (1998), "No
Color Adjustment," and "Photo Paper" media type. The curves were written
for a resolution of 1440.)

(These Entrada papers are so close to Eclipse Satine, that the curves may be
good for those papers.)

I just printed a landscape image with a deep black sky that I'd previously
printed on Epson UltraSmooth -- now Epson "Scrapbook" & PremierArt Hot
Press. Although I've noticed some flaking with the Entrada papers -- unlike
the UltraSmooth/Scrapbook/PremierArt Hot Press -- after wiping down the
Entrada and using a blower brush to be sure there was no dust on the
surface, I had no flaking in the image. Comparing the 2 papers, I can see
no visual advantage to the Scrapbook paper, and the 300 weight of the
Entrada Natural Fine Art I used is very nice.

Given the good pricing at InkjetGoodies.com, this paper makes a very nice
addition to our cotton paper options.

I hope these curves prove useful.

I'll send them to Martin & MIS.

I assume they'll be put in the Files > Ink Sets > MIS > MIS Ultra Tone Inks
folder of this forum.
