3rd party carts for 2000P?

3rd party carts for 2000P?

2003-10-18 by Paul D. DeRocco

I'm another person who upgraded from the 2000P to the 2200, and now has an
idle 2000P lying around. I'd like to use it for occasional B&W printing, but
I don't do enough of it to justify a CIS. And of course the metamerism with
the stock inks is horrible, so I'd like to try quadtones or hextones. Has
anyone managed to get 3rd party inks in carts to work in a 2000P?

I know MIS sells 1280 carts with their ink in them, and I understand that
the 2000P carts are mechanically identical to the 1280, except that they are
chipped. Is that an option, or am I barking up the wrong tree? I wouldn't
mind going to the trouble of moving 2000P chips to 1280 carts, if that's
practical, and I wouldn't mind the hassle of filling the carts myself from
bottled inks, since it's something I'd likely only have to do every few
months.

Howdy Paul,

I fill the empty 1280 carts and use reset chips from my 2000P Epson
color carts.

I just bought another 2000P and am very excited about Paul Roark's C82
announcement as well!

with the 2000P, the MIS FS inks for the Epson driver work great
without a curve..! I found a couple of Paul's curves for the 1290(mac)
look very nice with the VM and UT inks.

have fun,

Tom De Carlo
