Brad,

The 2200/2100 gives the best B&W images with Epson inks, since it has the
light black ink that the 1280/90 does not, and printed grayscales are better
out-of-the-box, and better still with custom profiles. However, if you use
3rd-party quad/hex/sept inks, then there is probably not much difference and
the inks for the 1280/90 will probably be cheaper because there are only two
cartridges instead of seven.

Bob Frost.

Does this mean you would prefer to use a 2200 over the 1280 for the B&W???
I am a bit confused as to which printer is better?
I\ufffdll go with which ever gives me the best image.
Just tell me which one?
Regards....

Thanks Bob.
That is a big help.
I don¹t mind buying a 2200 if it is going to be easier.
I live in Bangkok and getting the inks for the 1280 from another 3rd party
which is only in the states would be more difficult.
Epson inks on the other hand are easier to get a hold of out here as they
are everywhere.
What is you take on this?
Also you mention that the prints would be better still if using custom
profiles.
Can you give me an idea on what profiles to use on the 2200?
Thanks and best regards..........Brad.
