QuadToneRIP Ink Pattern Page prints weirdly

2003-11-06 by stephane_bosman

I am in the process of calibrating my Epson 1290 with the beta8 on Mac OS X.3.

The first print of the Ink Pattern Page prints weirdly: instead of progressive scales, I
get kind of random densities. There are more dark densities on the left but, for
example, the 40% path of ink 6 isquite dark, then the 45% patch is much lighter and it
goes up again until the 60% patch which is the same density as the 40%, etc.. All the
inks behave in a similarly random way.

What do I do wrong ?

Thanks.

This sounds really strange, I've never seen anything like your description.
The one thing that sounds new is OS X.3 -- Panther. I haven't tried the
new OS and noone so far has mentioned it. Anyone used it??

I've got a bunch of questions about your setup;
Have you used QTR before, on 10.2 Jaguar?
Does the epson driver work?
What inks do you have? and do they at least show up in the correct step
wedge?
How about just a single grayscale stepwedge? Does that work?
If you could scan the page and send me a small jpg, it might be useful.
