Lyson Quad Tone inks on Canon i950

Lyson Quad Tone inks on Canon i950

2003-11-26 by Stephan

Does anyone have experience with this combo and if so what were the
best papers. I'm looking for B&W results over the archival
factor.I'm infact getting reasonable results with just tweeking the
printer as is. My monitor has been spydered.....calibrated.
I really am happy with this printer on my IBM. The colour is perfect
and much more consistent than the 1280 I had which was slow and hard
to adjust after awhile. Epson help was very little at best. Their
excuses were the best mind you....

I use Lyson Quads in a Canon 900 and 9000, with what I think are wonderful
results. The 950 is the next iteration of the 900, with finer nozzles, but
Lyson has told me that the Quads will work in the 950 as well. I'm doing
800-1000 prints to bind up into books as Christmas presents for various
family members (been doing this for about 20 years - this is the first year
entirely in the light and dry) and have settled on Legion Photo
Matte. It's brighter and heavier than the Epson matte papers, and while
somewhat more expensive it's not a dollar a sheet as some of the fine
papers seem to be (my local store sold it to me for under 40 cents a sheet
when I ordered a bunch.) If you like RC type prints, I'd suggest starting
with the Ilford Classic Gloss and Classic Pearl papers - very wet
darkroom-like results with those two, and they too are not all that expensive

Enjoy.

Cheers,
Kip

Kip I use the Ilford classic pearl and if you use the 8.5 X 11 and
buy it in boxes of 250 it's down right cheap! and a real nice looking
paper from my beginner point of view.

I agree with you, Mark, in the large boxes the Ilford classic papers are a
bargain. In addition to the way Ilford papers look, the fact that Ilford
is willing to treat me like a working photographer (by offering 100 and 250
sheet packages) rather than a home hobbyist (by offering only 25 or at most
50 sheet packages) is one of the major reasons that I like to give them my
business.

Kip
