Digital BW, The Print

Hello,
with the prices for the 1290 going constantly down and almost 
approaching the 1160 level (which is still available here) I am 
thinking of replacing my trusty 1160 workhorse with a 1290 (= 
European version of 1280) - I might BTW keep the 1160 for running it 
with a FSN inkset or a UT set with the other black. 

I know this might have been discussed in the past, so just short 
questions and - if you like also short answers: 

1. Will the naked eye be able to see higher quality (UT inks) over 
the 1160?

2. Will the 1290 be more prone to head clogging when printing at 
2880dpi?
