Print Quality Prob with 1280 After Ink Changeover

Print Quality Prob with 1280 After Ink Changeover

2003-11-27 by klog52756

Hi,
I just changed the inkset of one of my 1280's, from VM to Ultraone,
CFS setup. I have a good nozzle check, and the heads are as aligned
as I can make them (they seem aligned to me), yet my print quality
is very poor, and I can clearly see horizontal lines, not clear
sharp lines, but a sense of lines, in the direction the printhead
travels.
Any ideas, advice?

Thanks
Kevin Logan

Are you printing at 2880 or at a lower res?

With a CFS running pigments, the lower res causes a HIGHER inkdraw
through the CFS and can result in ink starrvation within the printhead..

Hi Keith,
I am running at 2880, single pass. I forgot to include in my
original post that I used the MIS cleaning carts prior to installing
the new CFS that has the Ultratone Inkset. I don't think this should
make a difference at all. In general, I am wondering though that
the head might be "dirty" (in spite of what appears to be a good
nozzle check) causing a deflection of the spray.
If so, I am wondering if it's possible for me to remove the head and
clean it manually, and if that's considered a good idea, HOW?
Thanks for your feedback.
All the best,
Kevin
