I joined this group hoping to find info on B&W digital printing but it turns to be a smorgasbord of unrelated stuff. How many shots any one takes is totally unrelated and I am getting fed up with dozens of emails cluttering my screen, which have nothing to do with the main theme. If it keeps up I will end my participation. If there is a moderator please read the riot act. These postings render the whole thing almost useless.

I'm simply amazed at the number of shots taken by digital
photographers these days. (This is not a digital vs film thing).
I guess technology allows it and why not use it, since it doesnt cost
more to take 50 or 300 shots if you have the memory cards.

I remember reading about french photographer Edouard Boubat, who in
the 1950's, when film wasn't cheap in comparaison to the pay, would
go out on a commercial shoot with a Rolleiflex and one roll of film.
At the end of the day, he sometimes still had unexposed shots that he
  used for his personal photography.

That would probably be called extreme by today's standard, but I
wonder what's the ratio of keepers for someone who uses an 8x10
  camera today ?

For those who don't know Boubat's work:

  Cheers,
  Andre

I totally agree, why not move all of this post to a "Off Topic"
group were they really belong, Oh, I would include this one to.
To try to find anything of interest here has proved impossible over
the last few days.

In fact, I think it's good to occasionally get a somewhat heated
discussion going (in the name of hashing out ideas and/or
opinions), so long as it doesn't lead to a kitchen fire. And Martin
seems quite skilled, and well-timed, with the fire extinguisher. ;-)
