Hahnemühle in Los Angeles, CA:Freestyle

Hahnemühle in Los Angeles, CA:Freestyle

2001-08-04 by antonisphoto@yahoo.com

I was very surprised today to find the whole range of Hahnemühle papers
packaged under their original manufacturer name available on the shelves at=

Freestyle, a well known photo supply house. My surprise was both because I=

saw everything in their original names, but also because of the easy acces=
s
for those of us in LA. Hence I am posting this right away.

I haven't done the price comparisons yet. I am putting all this in the pap=
er
database and will tally the results later (and post an upgrade when ready).=

This isn't meant as a "plug" for Freestyle, neither am I associated with t=
hem in
any capacity. Just good news that we have one more paper source!

I saw this in their catalog a couple of weeks back. It would be nice
to buy the paper directly under the H. names and in their packaging
but Freestyle's pricing seemed high and since I would have to pay CA
sales tax as well, not an attractive source for me. There is no local
store in my area unfortunately.

I wonder why they can sell it under the H. name and everyone else
apprears to be required to rebrand?

Martin,

I think the rebranding is historic in many cases - Jon Cone says that when
he first started dealing with H, he had to rebrand as they did not market
their own papers. Now, they do... certainly in the UK anyway. Though of
course, that still leaves us with the hangover of that situation. Whether or
not they will try and prioritise 'own-branding' over rebranding is something
I don't know the answer to.

Nij,

I hope that you are right but I would not be suprised if companies
still continue to sell H. papers under their own names.
