Jose Luis & Carolyn/ lack of continuous tone on b & w image

2001-10-09 by JackG

Carolyn and Jose Luis,

Thank you, thank you, I just tried your solution and of course it works. I
have been fighting this problem since I began working with PS over a year
ago. You can't imagine how much I appreciate your help, I am the middle of a
project now that this will solve.

Carolyn,

I am using Epson Premium glossy paper, this is the heavy weight glossy
paper. If I understand correctly in what you stated, the profiles that I
already have is all I need.

Thanks again,

John in OKC

: I'd also point out that the profiles you get from Ian Lyons site will be
the
: same profiles that came with your printer for the 12xx Epsons.
:
: Use the paper specific Epson profiles rather than the standard. As Jose
: says, the standard is terrible.

Jack, check to make sure that the Epson profiles include the Epson Premium
Glossy... when you are soft proofing, or changing profiles or simply
printing to the Epson profile you should see your Epson 1270 profiles in the
list.

Your Epson profiles that came with your printer software are typically for
the papers that are recommended for your particular printer.

I'm sorry I cannot check this as I do not have a 1270... but you should see
it's specific paper name in your profile list.

John,

I'm glad you it works for you.

Make sure you copied the profile in the colorsync profiles
folder. I should list in your printer dialog. You should have
an 'Epson Premium glossy paper' profile (I have it in my windows
machine for my 1270). Just make sure you select it in the
printer dialog along with the 'Perceptual' option.

Are you using the PC profiles or Mac ones?
