Hi Martin, I have a 1290 and 1290s. They are essentially the same
(except for some reason that the 1290s is significiantly faster, a
firmware update perhaps). Physically there is not much difference
between them and the 1280, but the driver is different.
Whereas Paul created some very nice curves for the VM set for the
1290, the UTs are currently not supported directly (can't speak for
the UT2s but they've certainly got my attention). The 1280 curves
(UT) used on the 1290 are not workable, certainly the dedicated
curves were better on VM and I use the VM curves for the UT (which is
also not ideal). I understand that it should be possible to use the
1280 driver to run the 1290 printer and then the curves will be spot
on. I am in the process of getting this set-up. I am very curious
as to whether the UT2s will be a little more universal, I certainly
sounds as if this is Paul's goal and he is seemingly doing a very
good job of developing these inksets for a much wider audience
(applause).
Kind regards
Steve
