PermaJet Papers from MIS....

PermaJet Papers from MIS....

2003-12-10 by Richard Sintchak

Any one tried the PermaJet papers from MIS? About to order some
replacement Eboni carts which I use with my 2200 for BO printing and
thought I might try some of this paper. In particular the Matte Plus
Classic. They also have matte papers called Artist Classic, Museum
Classic, Parchment Classic and Portrait Classic. Anybody know more
about them or how they are for B&W inkjet printing? Is the Matte
Plus any better than Epson EEM? Thanks. Richard

I seem to remember being deeply disappointed with the Matte Plus Classic
because I got poor print quality and mottling with that paper. I'm using
a 2100 and MIS Ultratones with the Epson driver.

The Portrait Classic is almost identical to Photo Rag, and the others
are also similar, but with various textures.

Thanks for the reply Daniel. That was a fear I had about the Matte
Plus. As for the Portrait Classic being identical to photo rag why
would anyone pay $50 for 25 sheets of the PermaJet with Hahnemuhle PR
308 weight can be had for less than $35 for the same amount?

Actually, I really like that paper. It's brighter than the Epson HW
papers and I find the tones a little more neutral with the VM inks.
It's also heavier, but no more thicker, and it takes a coating better
without curling. But I don't know that it's ever been rated for
stability, that's why I don't buy it more often.

Thanks,
Ed

I tried the Instant Dry Glossy and was really impressed. Very nice
performace with GP inks on my 1280 (and also very nice on my 7960.)
Thumbs up from me.

Am I correct that the permajet papers are just
rebadged hahnenmuhle? If so can somebody post a cross
reference as to what the papers are.

thanks,
Don
