Ok, I have now upgraded to Photoshop CS (I had previously
installed QTR, not knowing it required an upgrade to an
OSX version of Photoshop).

Now, when I Print (from Photoshop CS), I get a dialog box that
looks a lot like the one in the QTR ReadMe file. I can select
"Printer Features"; however, I do not see "Quadtone RIP Settings"
listed under "Feature Sets", as described in the ReadMe.

Also, what do I do if I want to use the Epson driver (for color) ?

John

P.S. Wasn't someone gonna do some better QTR documentation,
for dummies ?

more help, please, with Quadtone RIP installation

John

My bet is that when you added the printer (Option Add to see Advanced) you
did not scroll down and select Quadtone RIP under Printer Model. Your Epson
driver will still be available, just select it as your printer when you are
printing colour.

Good bet - thanks !

Sorry, I must ask you to explain further. Do you mean in the "Printer:"
pull-down menu in the "Print" dialog box ? The only one listed there is
now QUAD2200. Do I need go to "Print Center" again and do another
"Add" selecting Epson instead of 'QuadToneRIP" ?

Thanks VERY much, John

P.S. I downloaded a disk image for the OSX 10.2.4 upgrade and it
worked fine. Since Photoshop CS says it works better with 10.2.6,
I downloaded the 10.2.8 upgrade. When I try to mount it, it complains
about a checksum problem or some such. I notice the icon has a
flag on top of it saying ".BIN", unlike the 10.2.4 one. Do I need to do
some other or add'l step to mount this image ? Or did it just get
corrupted during the download ?

I am assuming from the above that you have not yet set up the Epson
drivers/printers as they would still be there. So yes you need to go
through the normal process of adding the Epson printers. So in Printer
Setup Utility, Add (without Option), scroll to Epson USB (if using USB
connectivity), wait and then select Stylus Photo 2100 or whatever, then I
would select All under Page Setup (to load No Margins etc) and then Add.
You should see that a range of printers are now selectable next to QUAD2200.
The bold one is the default.

I am not sure how you are doing your upgrades but you should simply use
Software Update in your System Prefs. It will load the software you need
automatically.

Cheers

Steve

Right again - I had never even installed the 2200 OEM drivers under OSX,
much less done the Add procedure.

Many thanks, John
