B.O. with MIS Eboni - question

B.O. with MIS Eboni - question

2004-01-07 by wifflebomb

I like printing "Black Only" with my Epson 2200, but I think Epson's
OEM "matte black" ink looks too brown. So after some research I
found out about the MIS Eboni black, and tried to order a cartridge.
But MIS tells me it's only available for the "light black" position.
What? I don't want to use a whole new workflow, in fact I want to
leave all the Epson color inks in there and use the standard driver.
Am I missing something? Isn't there a way to just swap out the black
cartridge for an Eboni one?

Thanks.

Go to the page below and order ARC-T0348-K , which is Eboni in a cart
for the K position in the 2200.

On this page they sell the Eboni for the black position:

You can switch cartridge positions by changing the chips on the
cartridges and doing some careful work with a knife to make it fit in
the new position.

If you look at the bottom left of the printed side of the cartridge you
can see a keylock system which is different for each position. Compare
the cartridge in question with a real matte black position cartridge and
cut away the pieces that doesn't match.

You also need a Matte black chip on the cartridge. I did this before by
taking a chip from a used Matte black cartridge and using a chip
resetter on it. If you look closely at the chip you can see it's secured
to the cartridge with two small pieces of plastic, one in the top center
and one on the bottom. You only need to cut away the top piece of
plastic, while leaving the bottom one in place. This ensures that you
can freely remove the chip, while it's still secured sufficiently to the
cartridge once back in place.
