scanning negatives with vuescan

scanning negatives with vuescan

2004-01-18 by mjcarson94531

This is a tad off subject, but the knowledge level at this group is
very high so I hope you can help.

I scan my negatives on a Minolta Dimage Scan Multi II using VueScan
7.6.65. The Scan Multi II is cabable of scanning MF negatives at an
optical resolution of about 1128 dpi and than interpolates that up
to 2830 dpi using the Minolta Dimage software. The Scan Multi II is
also capable of scanning the middle parts of the MF negative at an
optical resolution of 2830 dpi (the same resolution of a 35mm
negative). Anyway, my question is, is VueScan cabable of scanning
the MF negative at the interpolated 2830 DPI that the Minolta
software is capable of and if so how do I make the correct settings?

A second question is that when I scan negatives with VueScan, when
the scanning is complete my hard drive goes nuts when I try and open
the scan in photoshop, almost shutting down the computer for
literally 4-8 minutes while it is doing something. I can't
understand what processing it could be doing that takes that long
and it gets to be very annoying. Anyone have any experience with
this?

Thanks for any help.
