UT2 vs. PiezoICC

UT2 vs. PiezoICC

2004-01-23 by aitor Peña Inclán

Hi,
I have a 1290 waiting to decided what to do with it.I have no experiencie in
B/W printing. I have order a cartridge set of UT2 from MIS as I read here
is a good option to start. But I wonder which is the differences between UT2
and the piezotones with the new piezoICC. I ask it because I see a great
diference in their price.
PiezoBW-ICC 1280 Starter Cartridge Kits $299.95
MIS UT2 cartridge set $54
Because it seems to print with the epson drive and to advance workflows with
Paul Roark curves are free.

What I mean is if there is any reason to buy piezo over UT2 regarding
quality, easy use, longevity....

Best regards
Aitor

You will find that many users of Piezo's ICC profiles are having a
great deal of trouble with black blocking up. For most this occurs
at about 70 to75% on a step flat chart. you will also find that
there is little or no support from Piezography with this problem,
although they claim they will have a fix "soon".
OTOH their ICC inks and their Bright White paper give very good
results when using Epson HW Matte as both the paper and ICC profile
choice when printed on an Epson 1280.
