1270 and UT2

1270 and UT2

2004-01-24 by Paul Roark

The 1270 appears to work with the UT2 inkset only when the 1280 driver is
used. With the 1280 driver the matte printing quality is quite good. I do
not recommend glossy paper with the 1270, however.

How is this done? Just download the 1280/1290 printer driver from
Epson and after installing 1270 should accept new driver, or...?

Re: 1270 printer with 1280 driver on a Mac

2004-02-04 by Dave

I'm trying to do this as well on a Mac with 10.2.8, and when I go to add a printer the
OS will only let me select the 1270 driver.

Does anyone know how to use the 1280 driver with the 1270 printer on Mac OS X?

Thanks,
Dave Ringoen

I've done this on Windows with no problem. Download the 1280/1290
driver and "install" the 1280. When you print, pretend that the 1270
printer is a 1280, i.e. select the 1280 driver in the print software.
Ignore any error messages.

streaking with PremierArt Hot Press on 1280

2004-02-04 by Allan Chen

>Hello all,

I just tried some PremierArt Hot Press 325gsm paper recently, and
have had some streaking problems. Oddly enough, when I put the paper
thickness lever over to the "+" it is a lot worse, with a faint gray
"cloud" over the entire top of the image from the print head rubbing the
ink. When the lever is on "-" it streaks for 1 page, then is okay for
another 6-8 pages.

I did a search on thsi topic but got a lot of not-quite-right
stuff. Any suggestions on what to do? I have burned through 4 pages of
streaked prints vs. the 13 good prints I've made, a ratio which can get a
bit expensive over time...

thanks,
allan

Dave,

As you are on 10.2.8 try using QuadtoneRIP if the
printer will not be recognized. It's an excellent RIP
without much hassle.

Did you do an alignment after you moved the lever to the plus sign?

Allan,

You may need to clean your printing head as well as
the parking pad via the Windex trick:

oh. somehow I missed that.

now I'm feeling like a moron.
I'll see if that helps,
allan

ps-the streaking goes away after the 1 bad print, so I'm 99% sure the head
and/or parking pad doesn't need to be cleaned. it's very much like the ink
is being _rubbed_ off by the head, the grey "cloud" is very nebulous.
