Eboni, clogs and windex

Eboni, clogs and windex

2004-01-27 by Jesus RV

Dear all:

After a long vacation, my 1280 seems to frown. I purchased the new UT2, and I have
installed them. I had some remaining ebony, that seems to have clogged, due to
some inactivity, the heads. I have heard that some of you "windex" the heads when
you cannot get a good cleaning. Can you, please, explain me the proccedure.

Thank you
J.

install a brand new set of Aftermarket cartridges or a set of Epson
carts that still have life (ink) in them. The Aftermarket carts have
to be un-punctured, new ones. If you use your Epson carts, they can
not be a refill of the originals. Brand new Epson carts work the best.
This step is very important, do not skip this step.

2. Use the new cartridges to bring your printer nozzles back. Run
cleaning cycles in groups of 3. Check nozzles before and after each
cleaning. Stop if you get a perfect nozzle pattern. After 3 cleanings,
print a copy of the PURGE4 or PURGE6 image. Then, you can do 3 more if
needed. If after 9 or 12 cleaning cycles, and your printer is still
not working properly, give it an overnight rest. Many times, the
nozzles will recover on their own after an overnight waiting period.

Above is a cut & paste from the MIS site. Do it, it almost always
works. One section is worth repeating: Brand new Epson carts work the
best. This step is very important, do not skip this step.

If only the black is clogged, just put an Epson cart in there and
leave the others with UT2.

If above doesn't work, THEN put a little bit of windex on the waste
ink pad and let it sit overnight. "a little" is enough to moisten it,
not overflow it.

Re: Eboni, clogs and windex, C84

2004-07-08 by dmcluckie

After letting my new C84 sit for a week with EZ inks, I had nozzle(s)
clog when I went to use it today. I ran 4 nozzle checks and 3
cleaning cycles. It got worse with each successive cycle. And if
the ink monitor is to be believed, my black ink cart went from 3/4
full to 1/4 full. I suspect that's not accurate, I don't see a
puddle of ink inside the printer.

I searched the archives and found this post (below). Since it is for
a different printer and inks, I don't know if it applies to the C84.
I do have the original, unopened Epson carts. I was planning to sell
them on eBay, but maybe I better keep them for this? Should I follow
the procedure below for my C84? Advice anyone?

Also, where are the PURGE4 or PURGE6 image files found?

Re: [Digital BW] Re: Eboni, clogs and windex, C84

Bad news. I just got a C84 and EZ ink set and am loving it. Maybe I'll
look into the MIS autoprint software that prints a page a day or something,
to keep things running.

For the purge patterns, check here:

Cheers,

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
