The New Kodak Paper

The New Kodak Paper

2004-02-05 by Jeff Magidson

I was happy to see the New Kodak Ultima paper in Satin finish at my
local computer super store yesterday so I picked up a 15 sheet package.

A few observations:

I like the Satin finish... Very minimal surface texture and
reflections... most like Kodak "N" surface C-Print paper.

The prints are QUITE tacky ( surface - not my imagery ) after printing.
As the enclosed instruction say "Allow photos to dry approximately 24
hours after printing before stacking" .

For this reason, I would not use this paper for quick prints ( clients
thumbnail sheets, give away prints, etc ) but only for more serious
work.

Also.. I wonder if Kodak will ever release this paper in larger sizes
than 8 1/2 x 11 .

Jeff,

Note that the package on the satin does not promise 100 years and
the Glossy paper does. At least that is what I found today when I
looked at the paper at Office Depot. I wonder if the Satin has the
new technology the glossy has? Hope it does. Would prefer that
surface.

Paul;

Your store must have had the OLD Ultima Satin in Stock. The package I
have has the ColorLast 100 year blurb on it.
