Arches Hot Press & UT7
2004-03-09 by Paul Roark
I'm getting good enough results to start supporting Arches Hot Press with the 2200 and UT7. At 2880 the paper is smooth enough for many purposes. The paper seems to print smoothest with the driver controls as opposed to existing curves. I'll be playing around with it to see what works best. The big news, however, is that the "Ink Configuration" option in the 2200 allows the "Color Density" (ink limit) to be increased 20%. While this doesn't seem to help most coated papers, with Arches Hot Press it kicks the dmax up to 1.52. That is very impressive for an un-coated paper. So far, I've just been testing the thin Hot Press. I'll move up to the 300 gsm (what they call "140") ASAP. This option on the 2200 (as well as its other features) has now changed my printer recommendations - for me the 2200 is now worth the extra money relative to the 1280.
