Digital BW, The Print

This is a bit OT but not too far...

UV for color or a K2 for B&W are often used at altitude because of the
spectral sensitivity of film to UV/short blue. What is the spectral
sensitivity of digital capture to those wave lengths? Would a UV filter
be helpful in high mountain terrain ?

My basic instinct is that it is not necessary or even useful but maybe
one of the chip gurus (Austin?) could provide a correct and detailed
answer?

Depends upon the camera. Some have built-in filters, some don't. I've heard
of arc lamps producing blue ghost images on some digicams, because of the
strong UV band they emit, which is bent more by the lens than visible light.
