This is a bit OT but not too far... UV for color or a K2 for B&W are often used at altitude because of the spectral sensitivity of film to UV/short blue. What is the spectral sensitivity of digital capture to those wave lengths? Would a UV filter be helpful in high mountain terrain ? My basic instinct is that it is not necessary or even useful but maybe one of the chip gurus (Austin?) could provide a correct and detailed answer?
