1160 under Fedora with QTR2 - printer utilities

1160 under Fedora with QTR2 - printer utilities

2004-03-11 by romanatybwg

I have moved my Epson 1160 from an XP environment to a linux Fedora
box. After some install hickups mostly due to my errors, QTR2 works
very well with 1160 in this setup.

One thing I'm missing is the ability to run nozzle checks and head
cleaning from the software utility. Not having an ink monitor
(however inacurrate it can be) is also a pain in the neck.

Do you know of an utility available for linux which would do a job
(just like the Windows based one somebody mentioned on this newsgroup
couple of days ago) ?

Cheers,

Roman

Re: [Digital BW] 1160 under Fedora with QTR2 - printer utilities

Thanks Ken,

I have installed mtink in the meantime (works fine) but just to
learn something new I followed your lead. I already had webmin
running so it was easy to install the Epson module.
When I run it it doesn't find the printer, though. Tried both
checking the USB box and typing /dev/lpo in the device box, booth to
no avail. My 1160 is connected to the only USB port.

Since I already have the functionality I need from mtink I'm not
going to turn this into a huge project and eat-up this newsgroup
bandwith but if you have a hint what settings I should check I will
give it a shot.

Cheers,

Roman

Roman, I don't have an answer. My printer is hooked up via the parallel
port. But, since mtink works, sounds like you're set!
