UT2 & Holidays

2004-03-16 by Steve Taylor

Evening all

I have just this evening got some UT2 inks in a CFS installed in a
1290 printer. I am using the 1280 driver and everything looks good so
far. Very impressive indeed, even on glossy paper. My question is that
I am going on holiday for 3 weeks on Saturday and I have read about
the nasties that happen if you leave it unattended for that long.

What should I do to prevent this? I think my best course of action is
to put the Epson cartridges in, get a good nozzle check and purge the
printer so that the head is full of Epson ink, then go off on holiday.

What do people think of this? Is there a better way?

Thanks for any input on this.

Put the whole printer in a garbage bag with a damp sponge (oh boy - I
know I'm going to hear it on this one) and seal it. As long as you keep
the humidity up it should be OK. Of course let it breath (dry up)
before turning it on again. I take no responsibility for what happens,
just a suggestion :)
