A bit confused about matte papers
2004-03-25 by Richard Smallfield
Hi, I'm relatively new to digital printing. I have been proofing on Epson HW Matte or Archival Matt and prints for sale have been on PhotoRag 308. I thought Photorag was as good as it got, but now I hear that even Photorag can yellow. I have been looking around for a spray to protect it, but I have so far sourced none of the ones you have mentioned here in NZ. So ... all I can get, as far as I know, are Photorag, German Etching and much of the Permajet range. Epson Scrapbook is not listed by any of the companies here that I've contacted and I have not come across Premier Art. I may be able to source Epson Watercolour paper, but know nothing of its characteristics. As for srays, all I can come up with is Schminker and Pebea. I ordered some Schminker universal fixative spray. It is UV protective, which begs the question - why not use it with Epson HW or Archival Matte and get longevity that way?? If anyone can help with the my quandaries the above, I'd appreciate it very mucb. I apologise if this is raking over old ground. I'm very unwell at present and haven't the stamina to get this information any other way. Many thanks to all of you who have helped immeasurably with my learning curve. And Long Live St Paul!
