Eboni Ink for Epson 2200

Eboni Ink for Epson 2200

2004-04-20 by Dave Williams

I've just joined this forum and have already found the posts to be
informative and interesting. I also just recently read Clayton Jones'
articles on black only printing. I'm getting good results so far with my
new Epson 2200 using his method, using the Epson Matte Black cartridge and
Enhanced Matte paper. I'm interested in trying the Eboni black ink
cartridge mentioned by him and others, but I couldn't find the ARC TO348-K
cartridge he refers to on the inksupply.com website. The ones they do have
seem to be for the Mac version only. Am I missing something, or has the
number changed?

What do I need to use the Eboni ink in place of the Epson Matte black ink in
my 2200? I'm using a PC, with XP.

Thanks for any info, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you all
here.

Greetings,

Here is the link for that ink. It is a tough link to find. It took
me 15 minutes to find it the first time. I love the eboni ink just
ordered 4 more cartridges. It blows the epson ink out of the water.

Good luck,

Thanks, Steve! I ordered one to try. What's the difference between
the K and MK blacks? I ordered the K, since that's what the article
recommended.

MK is their replacement for the Epson Matte Black. They call it
"Universal Black".

Clayton

Clayton are you sure? I thought the universal black was an ink designed for
both matt and RC paper....

On their CFS page it says... The photo black cartridge is prefilled with MIS
Universal Black for making either matte prints or glossy, semi-gloss prints.

"Universal blacks" are hybrid pigment-dye mixes. I avoid them.

Eboni is not the same as "universal black." It is, as best I can tell and
according to my fade tests, a pure (no dye) "carbon" pigment.
