HEX ink for Epson 1200

HEX ink for Epson 1200

2004-04-09 by pharris29

Hi all

Looking for some advice on converting my old Epson 1200 to HEX tone
Monochrome inks.

1/ anyone got any recomendations for ink manufacturers

2/ Are the HEX tone inks available LYson, MIS etc Dye or Pigment.

2/ I have loads of genuine Epson Black cartridges, will these work
with the HEX colour cartride or do I have to use the black from the
HEX maker.

Thanks for any help

Paul

Paul,

I use the MIS VM inks with my 1200 using Paul Roark's curves which
are avaiable from the MIS website. I buy carts rather than a CIS
system given the limted amount of printing that I do. I have used
these inks for about 18 months and have been pleased with the
results, although there is a learning curve. I think you will want
to use the MIS blacks with the VM inks.

Good luck,

Steve

In my 1200, I currently use the MIS UT(pigment)inks w/eboni, as I
print on matte(cotton) papers, and utilize Paul Roarks curves. I like
the results with the UT inks as opposed to the Hextones that I
formerly had in my system. I am using this with a CIS.

Just an update

Lyson confirmed that their HEX tone ink sets are DYE inks

So I went for the cheap option of using the Epson black that I
allready have and ordered a HEX cartridge for the colour position.

Using the standard settings I very quickly got some very nice B&W
prints, although I must admit to actualy prefering the tone of BO
prints.
