Clayton's Site ??

I am also relatively new to this group and am interested in monochrome
for my 1270. However, Clayton's site would appear controversial with
respect to what people are doing here.
I would appreciate if forum members could reply to his post - Do they
see the fading and other problems you mention ? I would appreciate
replies before I invest money in MIS inks.

Can you be more specific? It's not clear from your question what
particular thing (or things) you are referring to. Do you mean about
Black Only printing or something else? I'm sure you will get many
replies and opinions if you can clarify your questions.

Clayton

Piezography Exhibit in NYC

2004-05-01 by John Custodio

I'm having an exhibit of 12 prints (16x20 to 12x24)
printed with PiezoTone ink. They are landscapes and
architecture shot in California, Alaska, and New
Mexico, some shot on film, but most shot with a Canon
1Ds digital SLR. The exhibit will be at Soho Photo
Gallery at 15 White Street in Manhattan (3 blocks
south of Canal Street between 6th Avenue and West
Broadway). Opening reception is on Tuesday, May 4th
from 6 to 8pm. Gallery hours during the week are
Thursdays 6-8pm and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays
from 1 to 6pm. The Gallery will also be open on
Thursday May 6th from 1 to 8pm. The last day of the
exhibit is Saturday May 29th.

Other exhibitors in May at Soho Photo:
In recognition of the third annual TriBeCa Film
Festival, 24 Frames: Photographs from the New York
Members of The Society of Motion Picture Still
Photographers. This show features images taken by unit
stills photographers Brian Hamill, Phillip V. Caruso,
Eli Reed and Andrew Schwartz.
Margaret Edith Ariails show is entitled
Landscapes of the Southwest and includes eleven
hand-painted photographs that vary in size from 16x20
inches to 9x22 inches.
Bob Axels show is entitled Facing. It is an
outgrowth of his major work, "ShadowHopper," and is a
more detailed exploration of suburbia.
Karolina Zameckas show is called Abandoned
Spaces and includes approximately 20 color images of
varying sizes, from 11x14 inches to 20x24 inches.

Saw John's show a couple of years ago at the same gallery. Images and print quality were
superb! John, correct me if I'm wrong but if memory serves me correctly you shot at the
time a Pentax 67 and scanned with Leaf scanner?

John-
Up until a year ago I shot on a Pentax 6x7 and a
Technar 6x12. I scanned the negs and transparencies
first on a Leaf scanner, and then later on an Imacon
Flextight. Last year I bought a Canon 1Ds digital SLR
and have not shot any film since. Of the 12
photographs in the current exhibit, 5 were shot on
film and 7 were shot digitally.

Are you making any images like these(lots of texture and tone) With the canon
1D ?
In other words, are your subjects different now that your mostly using the 1D
VS. film?

John

I plan to see your show this weekend.
I would love to know which prints are from the Canon 1D. Also a
question. Were you able
to make the prints from the 1D files without interpolation?

I am shooting subjects with lots of texture and tone,
which the 1Ds handles very well. My subjects are
mostly the same (landscapes, architecture), but since
I'm working with a smaller and lighter camera (vs. the
Pentax 67 before), I also shoot more spontaneous stuff
hand-held, as well.
