I just put "cool" and "medium warm" curves for PhotoRag and UT2 on my web page. The PhotoRag curves appear to work well for the other Hahnemuhle fine art papers I've tested (German Etching, Torchon, and Albrecht Durer). Paul-- have you tested any of the hawk mtn papers? Its seems some said that it prints with similar curves to the Hahnamuhle papers. -matt -- Matt Haber dance, portrait and fashion photography http://www.matthaber.com

Awesome Paul!!! I have been waiting for a "cool" curve for this combo since I first got my 1280 and the UT2 CFS setup! Paul- I tried to download the new curve from your site, but was given a message that said "LOCKED The requested resource is currently locked. The lock must be released or proper identification given before the method can be applied." --- Paul Roark <paul.roark@...> wrote: > I just put "cool" and "medium warm" curves for > PhotoRag and UT2 on my web > page. > > > > The PhotoRag curves appear to work well for the > other Hahnemuhle fine art > papers I've tested (German Etching, Torchon, and > Albrecht Durer). > > > > Paul > > www.PaulRoark.com <http://www.paulroark.com/> > > > > For UT2 & UT7 information, curves, and settings see: > > http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/ > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been > removed] > > __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Max, My website was locking me out last night also. When I waited a few minutes it worked fine. There is some intermittent problem, but I don't know what it is. Paul www.PaulRoark.com For UT2 & UT7 information, curves, and settings see: http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/ _______________

Matt, >have you tested any of the hawk mtn papers? Its seems some said >that it prints with similar curves to the Hahnamuhle papers. I have some very small samples that I just printed. They look OK with the PhotoRag curves I tried, but the coatings are clearly different. I don't have enough of the paper to see what profile would be best for them. Truth is, with the UT2 & UT7 systems, most matte papers do OK with most of the curves. It appears to have been the radical partitioning curves in the older quad setups that really made a mess of the ramp when paper characteristics varied a bit. Stephen, try this: either Right-Click or, if you have a Mac, Control-Click = on the link. You should then see a menu with options. choose the one that is closest to= Download This To Disk. As you found, simply clicking on the link doesn't a= ctually download it. I'm new to the MIS system with curves and such. I'm trying to
download a curve from P. Roark's site and my browser (IE 6.0) is
saving the file ("Save target as.." method) as a .htm file. How do I
download it as an .acv (PS curve) file? Or do I need to somehow
convert it after download?2004-05-17 by Stephen Petegorsky

The problem is probalbly a server mime type confusion - which can be fixed. The server doesn't know what to do with ".acv" files so it just loads them as an html page.

I've tried to clarify the instructions on my web page for downloading the UT2 curves. It now reads: To download UT2 curves, RIGHT click on the name of the curve. Then click "Save Target As ...." Your browser will probably show the file as an *.htm file, CHANGE THE FILE EXTENSION to *.acv by deleting the "htm" and typing in "acv." Also, in the "Save as type" box below the file name change to "All Files" by hitting the down arrow at the right. ... I use PC with XP OS. It sounds like the Mac situation is essentially the same as what I see. Hope this helps. Thanks, John, Paul and Ed for your suggestions; I've finally been able to download the curves as .acv files. Now the question is: Where do I put them? I'm using PS 7 and OS 9.1 on a Mac. Thanks again, Stephen Petegorsky
2004-05-17 by Paul Roark
Stephen, >I've finally been able to download the curves as .acv files. >Now the question is: Where do I put them? Photoshop looks first in the Photoshop folder. Once you've opened a curve, it'll go back to that folder. I recommend a separate folder for each printer's curves. This can be anyplace, but the Photoshop folder is one obvious place for the new folder if Photoshop is all you use.
