blow it? I haven't heard of Photo Rag flaking ..Or maybe I missed
Something..

There is a lot of traffic on the list about trying this paper and that.

What I'd be interested in knowing is what paper do people consider their
  favorite?

I understand that in some cases it depends on what you are using it for
and how
you are printing it, but even if it's a qualified answer I think it would
be
  interesting to know.

I'll start the thread by stating that I print black and white using 'black
only'
on an Epson 1270. The paper I use the most is Epson Matte Heavyweight. The
price
is good and the image is OK, but I'd like something with a bit more
permanence.

I tried a sample of Hahnemuhle Photo Rag and while I liked the image, the
surface flaked so badly I wouldn't think of using it.

  Any comments?

Jim -

I brushed it gently. I refuse to use the canned "air" due to environmental
concerns.

It looked OK when it can out of the printer, but within 5 minutes of handling
there were white specs all over the dark areas of the print. I presume this was
from coating flaking off.

This could be because the Epson 1270 curls the paper in the process of
printing it, but it seems to be less curl than many other printers.

In any case, the one sample I tried was unacceptable.
