IP5.6/ink levels

IP5.6/ink levels

2004-06-12 by Ken Carney

Hi, I finally got around to buying IP5.6. I have this question in to tech
support, but they're not open til Monday and I thought many on this list
would know: Is there any way of checking ink levels in the Epson 2200 (XP)?
Even though I can print nozzle checks from the Epson utility, the Epson
Status Monitor just reports a connection error while trying to check the UC
ink levels. I don't know enough about IP yet to know if there is any risk
of printing with empty cartridges and damaging the print head. The manual
and their trouble-shooting guide doesn't reveal anything. Thanks!

Regards,

I don't use ImagePrint, but maybe the SSC Service Utility would work?

Hi Ken,

It may be that the bidirectional box is unchecked under
printer/properties/ports...it is at the bottom of the page. If you
find this the case check it and read your ink levels. Be sure to
uncheck it when ready to print with IP as in some cases the bottom
1/2 inch or so of the image may not print correctly. (fade out). As
far as running out of ink, the 2200 will flash a red light over the
cart. running out of ink when low and will stay red when out and
refuse to print until the cart is changed.
Hope this helps,
Paul
