China is producing a lot more complex things than blue jeans, or inks
that matter these days.  QC is the main issue, as is with any
manufactuering in developing countries, and that would be up to MIS
and/or their supplier.  The fact that the ink comes from China has no
bearing whatsoever.

It makes no difference where or who they are that makes the inks.  It would be interesting, at least, to have someone with a lot of knowledge from the manufacurers provide some insight into the dialogue about ink permanence.  There is obviously some real science at work here, and for some of us understanding the various factors that the manufacturers know affect print life would be useful.
