MIS UT density

MIS UT density

2004-07-20 by James Haney

After struggling for days to get a better profile for UT inks on
PhotoRag. I think I have discovered that the ink set is only capable of
a 1.34 max density with Eboni Black.

Is this true?

I do not trust my Spectrocam at the highest densities but 1.6 D
should be possible based on the SpectroCam readings and a Kodak
greyscale next to it.

I consistently get about 1.7 with Eboni and PhotoRag. 1.34 is about what
the dark gray will be. The Photo K is almost as weak.

Are you sure you have Eboni there?

Print a dark gray 100% patch and see how it compares. (Use the curves with
an RGB 100% patch and turn off 2 of the 3 inks by pulling their curves up to
a horizontal line at 255.)
