Val,

I have oredered a monochrome sensor back made for my Hasselblad 500CM from MegaVision and expect to meet with the president of the company next week to have it delivered and tested. The sensor is full frame 35mm size and will be 11 megapixels. Five years ago I partnered with MegaVision to use their technology in the ophthalmic imaging field and since I also do my personal fine art work, the idea of having a monocrome sensor has always interested me. We use the mononchrome sensor in ophthalmic imaging applications and the results are beautiful. The idea for MegaVision is to have me see how I like it, both in use and for quad tone printing (I use Piezography), and then they might start offering it as a product. I will let the group know how it goes. Since I only get this list in digest form and tend to travel a lot, should there be any post regarding the monochrome back, it might take me a while to respond.

Mark Maio

Austin (or anyone else)...Saw your reference to monochromatic
sensors and I would like to know more. Googled it, but did not see
anything relating to photography.

Also, I heard something months ago about someone that retrofits
dslrs with a "B&W" sensor. Is this the same thing? Where can I get
more info?

Thanks...Val

Is it a Canon chip? Sounds like the 1Ds sensor without the Bayer filter over
it.
