QTR makes my printer stutter

QTR makes my printer stutter

2004-07-22 by Jeff Magidson

Hi Folks;

I'm printing on my Epson 1280 with the QuadToneRip and I like what I am
seeing! However one thing I have noticed is that whenever I am
outputting a print the printer pauses a lot at irregular intervals for
no apparent reason. I have even tried closing all other applications
other than photoshop to devote all my computer resources to printing to
no avail.

Whenever I print with the Epson driver the printer churns right along
with out any interruptions or hesitations.

It this a common problem with QTR or GIMP-PRINT ?

I'm running a G4/733 with 768 RAM on OS 10.2.8 ( Jaguar ). I'm making
small prints = 8x10.

Any thoughts are very appreciated!

You need to email Roy Harrington

You need to email Roy Harrington the developer of QTR. He is
very responsive and a helpful guy. Just go that QTR website and
contact him through there. I could very well be that it is a
complicaton with Jaguar. I know I couldn't wait to get away from
that OS when printing. Panther fixed a lot of printer and scanner
issues for me.

What kind of inks are you using? I am thinking of trying that rip
myself. How easy is it to tone sepia and cool neutral prints. I
guess it really helps a lot with Ultra-Chrome.

Why do you refer to this as a "problem"? Do you feel that printing with QTR is taking
much longer than it should?
