Thanks. I have just tried it out. Seems that there can't be spaces in the SHARENAME. The line "if x%sharename%==x (set sharename=%printer%) in quadtoneprint.bat fails if the share name is "Epson 2200". It parses as "if Epson" followed by "2000==x.... Don't know if there is a way to fix this. I have changed mine to Epson_2200. Probably my wife won't notice :-) I'm printing the 21step.tif file now. I didn't change the ink to the Matte Black for this experiment so as not to do the cleaning cycle. The output looks quite good. I'll have to look at it in a few different lighting situations. Still talking about release 1, I did a test and checked the output in 3 different lights and also outdoors. The result is simply AMAZING. Roy You've done an TERRIFIC, EXTRAORDINARY job with this product. I'm ready to install and try version 2 tomorrow.

Uh, where did you find the 7600-UC driver? I went to the page and see PC beta 2. But it appears that it still only supports the 2200 on XP. This is much to my chagrin, since I have a 2-week old 7600 sitting here and would like to NOT buy Imageprint. Roy, puleease make 7600-UC the second printer and soon! I decided to see if QTR would run on Win98. It installs fine, and i could manually install the 2200 files (even tho i have a 1280...i figured it would be illustrative). I ran into problems with Roy's batch files. Since Win98 understands networked printers, I suspect it could be made to work. However, i exceeded my knowledge of batch files, and Roy's commands. I don't have the 7600 stuff packaged up yet. It's possible to hand install some of the files from the Mac system but you've got to decipher how to do it. I've been trying to figure out why some people have trouble installing, while others haven't any trouble at all. One thing that I think may be a problem is that windows allows you to run the installation script without actually unzipping or extracting all the files. You must extract all files before trying to install. This true on both zip files. Roy

Michael, I think that only applies for the linux and Mac versions of QTR. If you click on the "available for XP Pro" link above, it says it's only good for the 2200. Roy says it's possible to hand install some files from the Mac version if you know how. If you do, or if anyone can point me to a FAQ on that, I would appreciate it. Otherwise, I'll be grudgingly patient. ;-) Question to you Linux users: I started setting up a Linux box (Fedora for trial) for QTR prior to the Windows announcement. My brief scan of the Mac version pages shows nice GUI dialogs with Gimp-print and apparently none of the .bat editing in the Win version. Does the Linux version enjoy the same polish with Gimp-print? It appears that the Win version is using the Epson driver instead, even though there is a Win Gimp-print. I'm an old hand with DOS, so the bat files are no big deal for me, but I don't particularly enjoy doing it. Would I be happier pursuing the Linux version? (I'm a complete Linux newbie, and would have to learn to network and share the printer through Samba or something.) Lloyd

I downloaded QTR Release 2 tonight and have printed five Super B size (13 x 19) prints on my 2200 using the default 50:50 curves. The results are stunning. The tonality is totally smooth with absolutely no posterization. I say this having used IP 5.0 and 5.5 for over a year for Black & White and color printing with my 2200. I also used an 1160 with MIS VM and MIS Ultratones with Paul Roark's curves for several months. Thanks so much to Roy for this wonderful new advance for the 2200. I am gratefully sending my $50.
