iQuads

So now Jon Cone released this interesting product, which is the old
stuff but now offering custom profiles for the quads...
But hasn't it been told here many times that profiles couldn't be
done with the software current available because it's written for
color inks and the windows drivers? I once wrote to a known profile
maker asking about making a cprof. for a 1160 with quads and the
answer was just like what I said above...
So what?

The piezotone inks are not the what I would call the old stuff. The ICC quad
profiles for these inks have been around for a time, yes.

The well known software that profiles color ink sets/paper are not a windows
only app.

Geoff Spence at Cone Editions either developed the quad profiling software
or made it work, he was most involved anyway. It is not the same software as
the color profiling that is well known. The quad profiles are ICC profiles
just like the color ICC profiles, but they are created with different
software.

The iquads that they are now offering use the same software they developed
to profile their piezotone inks, those profiles have been used for a while
now. This is just a more custom workflow, profiling your own printer rather
than using those created from another or a group of others... perhaps to
alleviate the problems that have been incurred with some printers. I don't
know.
