QTR-GUI, 1280 Printer, Paper Runs Straight Through

QTR-GUI, 1280 Printer, Paper Runs Straight Through

2004-08-22 by Tom Husband

When I drag the image to the target the paper will load but then run
straight through the printer without printing. I have to cancel the
print que and drag it again before it will print. Any idea what
would cause this?

Thanks,

Tom

I've had that happen under 2 conditions: paper size mismatch and a
part of a file remaining in the printer's memory.

For 1: make sure your image file size is about 1/2 inch smaller in
both dimensions than the paper selected in the QTRGui or script
(that's the Canvas Size in Photoshop).

For 2 (I have to do this to get the printer to eject the paper
anyway): shut off the printer for a few seconds after every print to
be sure it's memory is clear. If 1 solves your problem, you can
probably just click the off and on rapidly to eject the paper and be
ready for the next print. The other thing I like to do is have the
printer dialog box open as soon as I start printing so I can cancel a
print at any time if something isn't right, but then I like to do a
little test strip on the front edge of the paper before printing the
full image and it's handy to Cancel the print job when I'm ready for
the final print.

Thanks Frank. I'll check this out. I like your idea of running a
strip test before going with the whole page.
