Should I use 1440 or 2880?

Should I use 1440 or 2880?

When printing on a 2100, using Epson Matte black only, should I use
the 1440 or 2880 (Super photo) setting?
Many thanks!

If you want fast use 1440. If you want the best use 2880. Difference
is not huge but there is a difference. And for BO I think it's worth
it at 2880. After all B&W can often be about subtle tonal nuances and
detail. And 2880 helps.

I haven't tested the difference on matte, but it's pretty slight on coated
papers. It wouldn't surprise me if the difference was insignificant on
matte.

I much prefer using the 2880 on matte papers and I go ahead and check
the HiSpeed box. I do notice a difference in graininess if I use the
1440.

All of this is summarized quite nicely on Clayton Jones site. He is
the guru for Black Only printing.

I can see the difference with a very good loupe on matte. But not with
my naked eye.

Do a test and let us know what you find. Personally on my 1280 I can't
see a difference between 1440 and 2880 in terms of quality.
Timewise... that's another matter...
