RE: [Digital BW] Re: QTR Print Size Problems

2004-09-07 by Brad Streeter

Thank you to everyone for helping me with my print sizing problems. I
appreciate it! Now I just have to decide if I want to convert my 2200
into a pure b&w printer with different inks, or get an older 1280 and
convert it over to pure b&w, any suggestions on what inks to use? I
have read a little about some other inks, and papers but I am new to
this and do not really understand it very well. Would I still use QTR
or would I need another program if I set up an pure b&w printer with
continuous ink sets etc.

Thanks,

Brad

Brad,

Your description of the printing error exactly matches my experience
with QTR/Photoshop6. QTR is sensitive to image size, your overall
image dimensions should be a bit smaller than the nominal paper size
(I use 1/2 inch smaller wide and high).

You can use QTR with any inkset you wish to use in the 2200, 1280, or
other supported printer, but what don't you like about the QTR B&W
prints from the 2200 with the UC inks? The beauty of QTR with the UC
class printers is that you don't really need a dedicated B&W printer.

RE: [Digital BW] Re: QTR Print Size Problems

2004-09-07 by Brad Streeter

I like the prints I have gotten so far quite a bit, It just seems that
it would be nice to have large volume inks for the printer, maybe what I
should be asking is has anyone used a continuous ink setup on the 2200
that they are happy with for both great color and great b&w prints, that
maintains or improves the archival qualities that the Epson UC inks are
supposed to allow for?

Thanks,

Brad

Yep the MIS CFS for the 2200 with their colour UC equivalent inks. I have
Eboni in the black position. I also bought their PK ink with a CFS tube
etc. I somewhat regret peeling off the Eboni tube from the other tubes (so
that I could swap the blacks). I have had to tape it back so that it
doesn't flail around in the printer.

Yep, I did the same thing with my Niagara III CFS, but how else would
you be able to switch blacks? You have to get the other cart and tube
out of the way. I wish one of the CFS makers would come up with some
kind of light weight clips that could be used in place of tape to
secure the loose black tube; redoing the tape and adjusting the
tubing so it doesn't catch inside the printer takes about 10 minutes
and it could take as little a a minute or two if the tape wasn't such
a pain to take off and put back on.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
