Robert , thanks. I have a trusted refurb supplier in Barcelona, I've got my
name down there. Anyone using MIS inks on a 7000? Any problems?

RE: [Digital BW] 7000 refurbs

2001-10-31 by Nij

Julian,

Check out the NEW places! Seriusly, I just found out (in the last week or
so) that in the UK there are suppliers who undercut the others by between
?500gbp - ?1000gbp before VAT! Well, that's hearsay, but, based on my
recollection of what a couple of people told me they got their printers for.

Perhaps I am wrong, though, and I bought just before a price-drop or
something.

Either way, not many resellers hold stock of these - they just get shipped
by specialists direct from the distributor / importer. So... there is NO
particular advantage in going to a local reseller. My mistake :(

Printing on W.T. 310 roll is a dream! Printing on sheets is good, but make
'em large sheets if you must because before printing, the printer does all
these mysterious shennanigans which I take to be: Paper width check and
Paper thickness check. It means it prints fantastically on whatever you
throw at it, but feeding a sheet of A4 taking 30 seconds (???guess???) is
not quite as fast as your 1160!!!

Just FYI

The MIS VM curves are done for the PC, but for Mac we're just starting.

Thanks Nij - I'm still investigating possibilities, but it suddenly struck
me that If I don't use piezo, I could JUST afford a 7000. I think you don't
need a second PC for it.

You shouldn't do, it needs a Parallel or USB port like any other printer...
and you'll run it off an Epson driver if you're using MIS VM, I assume.

Jim Robbins at ACT sold me a brand new 7000 for $3500, including shipping. At
this point in time you would get the stand also. For $300.00 more...?
