Roland Printer B&W conversion

We are thinking about changing our Roland FJ500 from an eight color printer to a dedicated black & white machine. The cyan and light cyan heads no longer are reliable, so we'd like to use the remaining 6 heads in (which are perfect) in a b7w configuration. We've done some tritone work using three blacks and gotten really nice results, but wonder if a variable tone option might work. We did the tritone work with an Ergosoft Rip, and would be interested in working through a variable tone option as well. We are considering the MIS inks at this stage, and wonder if anyone has recommendations on a viable setup for variable inks. Thanks in Advance, Marc Sitkin
