Englarged digital negatives from 2100

Englarged digital negatives from 2100

2004-10-08 by yaakovsinclair

I would like to try to make some A3 negs for contact printing onto
silver paper. What is the best medium to do this on a 2100?
Pictorico OHP? Do I need an adjustment curve for printing the neg?
If so, where can I find such a curve? Last question (should really
be first) I would like to hear of some experiences of people who
have tried this hybrid.
Many many thanks in advance to all!

Believe it or not, the Pictorico Hi Gloss White Film actually works
better for silver-gelatin printing. I just took a class in digital
negative printing at a local community college and was amazed at the
results.

You most definitely need a curve. You can find one on Dan
Burkholder's site along with his book:

Tom, I just looked at the Pictorico site. They only do the hi-
gloss in Letter size. Will I still get good results from the
transparent OHP at A3 size?
thanks!

You may wish to consider using Mark Nelson's Precision Digital
Negatives method for printing silber gelatin or other alternative
process prints. He has written a book that provides the reader with a
method for making very precise inkjet or image setter negatives for
contact printing using Pictorico OHP (other transparency mataerials
may be suitable as well such as Photo Warehouses transparency
product).

You can find out more details about Mark's book at his website.

I've not yet made any prints using his method but I've seen booth the
negatives and prints made and they are indeed very nice.

Good luck,

Don Bryant
