If so, is it better than other printers?--- No, the 4000 is for color only. I got the 2200 for B&W, but I hate little carts and CFS systems and I don't want variable tone, just neutral. I like DX3 heads, variable dots (3 picoliters in this case)big carts, and tray feed, like the so I just got used 5500 (rugged machine) at a good price, which should let me adapt Paul's curves (or no curves) like he did on the 2000P with the MIS-FSN inks (Eboni-CMCMY). For big stuff I have a 7500 with UT-1, which I will convert to UT-FSN also, so they kinda match (I will figure out a way to make them). I want to do matte and Ilford Pearl prints on the 5500. This will be my 7th, and hopefully, final, piezo BW printer (1200, 3000, 1160, 860, 7500, 2200). I don't mind squirting 90 ml of inks into a big cart for refill, but these little carts drive me nuts, as do the CFS units. Sheet printing is more demanding of finer dots since the images are viewed closer up, so I don't mind the coarser dots of the 7500 on large prints and want finer dots, tray fed, sheet printing, gloss/matte, pro DX3 heads, and big squirt refills with 2 sets of carts (one on the printer, and a spare set that's always full).
