spray coating to apply on Epson Premium luster

2004-10-14 by Steve Schaefer

I am looking for a spray coating to apply on Epson Premium luster. I have
heard good things about Premier Print Shield but it seems that everyone is
out of stock. Is there a product out there that is comparable to or better then
Premier Print S
hield?

Thanks

Steve

Lyson Print Guard and even Marshall's appear to be in the similar -- same
can with the same label and nozzle. I've used Lyson and it seems to be the
same. PremierArt claims their product is unique. However, if it walks like
a duck and quacks like a duck ...

Have you tried buying PremierArt Print Shield from MIS
(at http://inksupply.com/index.cfm?source=html/new_prod.html)
or some of the other the web companies like www.ITSupplies.com?

Thanks Paul for your response. I have been a member of this list on and off for
years now, and it always amazes me how much time and energy you commit
to this community. Thank you.

When you apply the Lyson do you use the aerosol can or do you brush it on? I
am looking to coat 16x20 prints and am wondering what the best method
might be.

Sorry if this has been covered a thousand times.

Thanks again

Steve

RE: [Digital BW] spray coating to apply on Epson Premium luster

Steve,

>When you apply the Lyson do you use the aerosol can or do you brush it on?

I spray them with the aerosol. One of the things I like about the
PremierArt & Lyson cans is that the nozzles are very good. As such, it
makes getting an even finish easy. I do a minimum of 3 coats -- 1
horizontal, 1 vertical, and 1 diagonal (and sometimes a 4th coat diagonal
the other way). I hang the prints vertically with an aluminum 2x16x1/8 inch
bar (for 16 x 20) on the bottom to hold the print stable. I use regular
clothes pins to hold the print to a tight clothes line at the top and to
hold the bar to the bottom of the print.

Good luck.
