Digital BW, The Print

Hi,

Tried to do a search on this subject but nothing came up. The keywords I used brought 
nothing up so I apologize if this has been covered.

In Paul Roark's instructions there is no mention of what print space should be
used for printing on matte paper. Or if it should just be on untagged document. I like to
softproof before I print and a lot of times the image comes out darker than what is on the
screen. Yes, my monitor is calibrated. Been using gamma 1.8 to softproof and it is
inconsistent, as well as gamma 2.2. Can someone tell me what is the proper softproof 
setting.
Using the 1280 with Eboni UT2 inkset.
