Epson 7000 or 7600

2004-11-10 by Arthur Fink

I may have a chance to buy either of these printers at a good price, but am
having a hard time finding a clear list of differences between them.

Will both accept various quadtone ink sets?

Will both accept a dye based color ink system (e.g. UltraChrome) for color
work?

Any differences in dot size, paper handling, or other factors?

Finally, any other considerations that should guide my choice?

Thanks much,

Arthur Fink

yes.

Ultrachromes are pigment inks. The 7000 is designed for dye inks. The
7600 is designed for either dye inks (six channels) or pigment inks
(seven channels) depending on which model you buy. I like the seven
channel model for quads.

In reality, it doesn't much matter - any of these printers can handle
dye or pigment inksets.

The 7600 has smaller dots, and can handle variable dot sizes. The 7000
is good for 1440 printing, the 7600 can go 2880.

The 7600 is considerably faster.
