To warranty or not to warranty

To warranty or not to warranty

2001-11-07 by Heath Sandall

Hello,

I originally posted this on the epson list, but it was suggested that I
should post it here also.

I am printing with an 1160 and MIS original quads with a nomorecarts
CIS. I am fairly happy with my prints, but I have been getting
microbanding since I started using this printer with the quads. When
new and printing with the OEM cartridges, I did not get the
microbanding. I have done everything suggested on the lists to clear up
the problem including print head cleaning, many print head alignments
and checking with a loupe on same thickness paper, windex trick, raising
the CIS bottles, and the list goes on...

So, is the general consensus that this microbanding is a "feature" of
this printer and cannot be helped, or should I consider trading this
printer to epson under warranty (if they even have any 1160's to switch
with)?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Heath

sent a new (refurb) newt day. Send it back and see if it helps.

Heath,

I agree with Dave. I have seen a lot of flawless 1160 prints so try
and get an exchange from Epson if you can.

Martin
