In a way, yes, but not exactly. From a sensi-densi viewpoint perhaps, but 
emotionally, we far more than that in terms of visually discernible tones by the 
medium.

All prints represent a compressed dynamic range in the reflective sense with 
respect to the original since we have real-time adaptation and a fairly narrow 
study of parts of the real scene in the process (Yosemite is much bigger than 
Ansel's 30x40's).
