QTR Profiling and SoftProof Questions

I recently converted my Epson 1280 to a dedicated B&W printer using the MIS UT2 inkset. I have learned a lot from reading the archives but I have a couple of questions regarding creation of profiles for QTR and soft proofing that I have not been able to find an answer for. I am on the PC platform and use the QTRGUI if that makes a difference for a response. I downloaded the instructions from Roy Harrington's site and seek clarification on the following: 1. When printing the Target-51.tif, I assume that I am using QTR to print the target with the paper and DPI settings that I wish to use and I should just pick one of the curves and set it to 100 for the output with no blending. 2. Using the same paper type and DPI setting, I do this for each curve for that particular paper. When I'm finished, I should have 4 printed targets: Sepia, neutral, carbon, cool. 3. I do the same for the next paper type that I wish to profile. My questions are: 1. I usually let color targets dry down for 24 hours prior to profiling. Must I do the same with the UT inkset or is a half-hour to an hour sufficient? 2. Is there a time differential between Glossy and Matte papers for dry down? 3. Should I spray the Glossy target as has been suggested for final prints? 4. How does one softproof a blend? Does one do this with layers and then just adjust the opacity? Thanks in advance for your responses. --Joel Turner
